Omar Martinez
Omar was born in Nicaragua and raised in southwest Virginia near Blacksburg. From a young age he had a lot of access to outdoor activities, such as whitewater rafting and climbing, among others. Several experiences and opportunities brought Omar to Arizona where he has been living for the past 18 years and working as a river and backpacking guide. Omar works with Grand Canyon Youth as a JEDI Fellow (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) to advise and advocate for an inclusive outdoors recreation environment and culture in the Colorado Plateau region.
